This project involved designing a cinematic full-wrap book cover for The Celebrity, a thriller novel by Kenneth A. Scudder. The objective was to create a visually compelling cover that captures suspense, isolation, and intrigue — key themes central to the narrative — while maintaining strong shelf presence and genre alignment.
The design needed to function seamlessly across front cover, spine, and back cover, delivering a cohesive storytelling experience that instantly communicates the book’s tone and attracts thriller readers.
Execution Process
- Brand Discovery:
Interpreted the narrative themes of suspense, mystery, and psychological tension. Positioned the book within the thriller genre to ensure it visually competes with high-quality, market-standard fiction covers.
- Layout & Typography:
Designed a bold typographic system with strong hierarchy, ensuring the title commands attention while maintaining readability across formats. Balanced title, subtitle, and author name across the front and spine for optimal visibility in both digital and physical retail environments.
- Visual Strategy:
Developed a cinematic composition featuring a solitary figure illuminated in darkness, creating a sense of tension and narrative curiosity. Used atmospheric lighting, gradients, and depth to evoke a moody, suspense-driven environment.
Extended the visual storytelling across the full wrap by incorporating subtle textures, environmental continuity, and structured back cover elements including synopsis, author bio, and barcode.
- Production:
Delivered a fully print-ready book cover with precise spine alignment, bleed setup, and high-resolution output. Optimized for both paperback printing and digital storefronts, ensuring consistency across all publishing platforms.
